LIGHTNING KILLS FOUR

Lightning killed four people this weekend and left one hospitalise.

Timotheus Kanime (73) and Junias Ndeumane (52) died after lightning struck on Saturday around 16h00 in Omutwewondjamba village, Eenhana.

A woman (34) is receiving medical treatment at Eenhana State Hospital, and she is reported to be in a critical condition.

Likius Mweneni Iita (18) died after lightning struck him while gambling dice with others on 13 February 2022 at Pahangwashimwe Pension Point Ongobeyaola in Engenga. 

Mukelabai George Nawa also died after being struck by lightning on Saturday at Luhonono, Schurkmansburg, Kabbe North constituency.

In Oshifo, a 3-year-old died after she consumed sulphuric acid battery water on Saturday at Uuhongo Village, Onesi. The deceased is identified as Neuvo Ndepaopawa Mundukuta. 

According to police, the minor victim was left in the care of a 12-year-old after the parent left the house and instructed the 12-year-old to use the sulphuric acid battery water to disinfect the puppy’s ears which are attacked by ticks. 

Petrus Gerrie Gaingob (37) died after being stabbed with a knife on the head and left ear side on Friday. A man (58) was arrested in the matter.

Elton Setoga (17) died after complaining that he was not feeling well on Sunday at Aussenkher. 

He was declared dead by the nurse who attended the scene, and the body will be sent in for COVID-19 swaps and autopsy to determine the course of death. 

A 21-year-old boy was arrested for raping a 40-year-old woman in Outjo on Friday. The victim was on her way to the Eyambeko area when it occurred. 

On Thursday, a suspect invited a 17-year-old girl to his room, put her on the bed, removed her clothes, and raped her at Oshikushashipya Village in Etayi constituency. 

Another 15-year-old girl was raped by two men on Friday at 23h00 at the Lwanyanda compound in Katima Mulilo. 

Police say the two men pulled out the victim from the Let Me Try bar in the New cowboy compound to Lwanyanda. While one of the two suspects has been arrested, the other is still at large.

In Aranos, man (24) was found possession of 16 bankies of skunk on Friday. An 18 year-of age boy was found in possession of two mandrax tablets valued at N$240 in Mariental. 

The teen was arrested on Friday at the Takarania location nearby the Kasibu shop. Still, in Mariental, men (20) was caught in possession of 10g of cannabis valued at N$100. 

Another 26-year-old in Mariental was arrested for having valued at N$1050 during a police stop and search. 

In Opuwo, another 20-year-old alleged to be a learner at Elite Private School in Omafo was arrested after he was found in possession of Best Whiskeys to the value of N$4 800 on Friday. 

The suspect is out on bail of N$1 000 and is due to appear in court tomorrow. 

Bwabwata National Park, a man (54), was arrested for hunting without a permit on 09 February 2022. According to the police report, the suspect went into the park, set up snares, trapped one Buffalo bull. He is expected to appear in court tomorrow. 

A white BMW burned beyond repair on Friday after it collided head-to-head with an Isuzu bakkie in Windhoek. Nikko Ann, who is the driver’s girlfriend, succumbed to her injuries and smoke. 

While the driver (32) was taken to the hospital, police say the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He is reported to be in stable condition. 

In Otavi, a woman (36) was assailed by her 32-year-old boyfriend with an unknown object on Friday at 03h00. She was hit on the right eye and sustained severe injuries.

On Saturday, in Windhoek, a woman (27) fired shots towards her 27-year-old ex-boyfriend.
