A driver of a government vehicle escaped a car crash with no injuries after hitting a donkey on Friday at Omakange main road in Oshikanga village, Omusati region.
Meanwhile, a 34-year-old South African national hijacked a 45-year-old man on Friday at around 05h00 and 06h00 on the B2 main road in Arandis.
Police say the suspect drove away with the truck towards Usakos. The man says his truck had stock and a trailer valued at N$2 000 000. The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Swakopmund magistrate court on Tuesday.
In another incident, an unknown suspect used an object to steal a silver Toyota Corolla at Oshakati on Friday.
According to the police, the vehicle was parked next to the sleeping room of the owner. The car, valued at N$58,000, is not yet recovered.
Another silver Toyota Corolla was stolen by an unknown suspect on the evening of 18 March 2022. The car, valued at N$45,000, was parked in front of the 42-year-old man’s house. The incident happened at Tutaleni in Walvis Bay.
Still, in the Erongo region at DRC Informal Settlement, Swakopmund, the driver of a grey Mazda Demio, drove into a shack on Saturday. Police say the suspect left the scene, and no arrests have been made yet.
In the same town, a woman (31) was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Saturday evening. She is set to appear in the Swakopmund court tomorrow.
Still, in Swakopmund, two men (22 and 35) were arrested for drunk driving at Moses Garoeb street and Libertine Amadhila Street. The two will also appear in court tomorrow.
In Onesi at Eunda village, a man died after an unlicensed driver of a white Toyota Hilux was driving from the clinic when he lost control of the car, causing it to overturn. Mateus Natangwe Amunyela (43) died on the scene, while the driver sustained injuries and was transported to Onesi health centre for medical treatment.
On Saturday night, Dudley Platt (28) was bumped by a white Nissan Note with an unknown registration number in Rehoboth.
Platt was travelling in his wheelchair when it occurred. Police say the driver drove off right away, and Platt was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital under severe conditions.
A man (25) in Usakos was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man drove into a Telecom Namibia pole and caused minor injuries to two passengers in his vehicle.
Meanwhile, on Saturday afternoon, two men were arrested for stealing cattle worth N$12 000 at Farm Uithou, Khomas Hochland. It is alleged that the three men slaughtered the cattle and took off. However, police say the third suspect is still on the run.
