A Windhoek man stabbed his girlfriend to death Saturday when she tried to stop him from fighting another man.
The police said Magrietha Williams (36) was stabbed on the right breast by her 50-year-old boyfriend.
The incident, according to the police, happened at around 16h30 in Ongulubashe no.2 informal location in Wanaheda, Katutura.
It is alleged that the suspect was involved in a fight with another man when his daughter came with knife which he grabbed from her.
Williams then came in to try and stop the fight but was stabbed in the process.
A farmer shot himself with a hunting rifle on Friday at farm Aub Camp Number 4 near C-28 Daan Viljoen road.
The police have identified the farmer as Cornelius Johannes Dodds (65).
Dodds shot himself around 10h00, while he was in the company of his two workers.
The police said one of the workers said he saw Dodds pulling the trigger, and that he tried to stop him but unfortunately, he could not.
The hunting was found between the legs Dodds’ legs.
A 43-year-old woman identified as Maria Ndino-Omuua Ngwali was found hanging in her sleeping room on Friday. Ngwali was living in Atusheni location in Eenhana Town.
Walvis Bay police arrested an unlicensed 28-year-old woman after she ran over a 62-year-old man on Saturday at about 13h45 along Moses Garoeb and Hanna Mupetami Streets, Walvis Bay.
The police said the woman was driving a Silver VW Golf and the pedestrian was crossing Moses Garoeb Street.
The woman drove away, leaving the victim, who had sustained serious injuries, unattended.
He was later taken to Walvis Bay State hospital, where he died shortly after his arrival.
The vehicle was later found stuck and abandoned in the sand and the police suspect that the woman tried to take a short cut to Narraville suburb.
The woman who is expected in court on Monday faces culpable homicide, fleeing from the scene of accident; failure to ascertain the nature of injury and damage after accident and driving (motor vehicle) without a driving licence.
A security guard shot a suspected burglar on the buttocks in Wanaheda on Friday around 23h00.
The police said that the suspect had jumped over the fence at Samora Machel councillor’s offices when he was shot and wounded.
The suspect is currently admitted at Katutura State Hospital.
