WALVIS BAY NOT GOING BACK ON CEO

By: Dwight Links

Walvis Bay mayor Trevino Forbes says the municipality will not renew the chief executive officer Haingura is returning but that the notion of renewing his contract at the municipality is not open.

Haingura, who was appointed substantive CEO in 2011, will serve until November this year when his contract ends.

Forbes said Friday that council decided not to explore a renewal for him.

If council had renewed Haingura’s term, it meant that he could have served three terms.

The announcement by Forbes came a day after Haingura and three other officials were reinstated after they had been suspended over the massive urban land servicing project.

The other officials suspended together with Haingura were the manager of housing and properties Jack Manale, general manager Victor Agostinho Victor Agostinho, property clerk Connie Summers.

Their suspension came after the release of an audit report whose contents have not been made public.

Forbes said the council was waiting on the audit firm to sign off the report before making the contents public.

He also said that the media will be able to view the contents of the report next week when it will be made public.

Haingura, who was the general manager of finance at the municipality, doubled up as acting chief executive officer from April 2007 after Augustinus Katiti resigned from the post.
