An all-male dominated programme to discuss Namibia’s ICT sector organized by the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRAN) has attracted scorn and rage from the University of Namibia Pro-vice chancellor for research, innovation and development, Anicia Peters.
CRAN today holds an ICT all-stakeholder engagement which will provide an overview of the national ICT regulatory landscape to be moderated by Presidential advisor James Mnyupe.
The panel is dominated by male experts from MTN, MTC, Paratus, Telecom and Loc8 Mobile.
“Beyond disappointing that CRAN organises a panel & an all male program, except for 1 female, as an ICT Stakeholders Event. This is even organized during women’s month. Namibian ICT companies have no women in managementt? This female Computer Scientist #ChooseToChallenge this and refuse to let girls and women see this as role-modeling and representation of ICT worker,” she said.
