Health minister, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, has said that he has not been formally informed about any plans to convert Ramatex into a Covid-19 facility.
The mayor for the City of Windhoek, Job Amupanda, this morning said, the City has taken the decision to make Ramatex a Covid-19 center.
He said, “Inform President Dr Hage G. Geingob , as he prepares his COVID-19 address, that the City of Windhoek Leadership last night TOOK a decision that Ramatex will now have a COVID-19 Facility. A Team led by former Health Minister Dr. Bernard Haufiku & Founding Dean of the UNAM School of Medicine Prof Nyarango is at Work!”
However, Shangula has said, “The ministry which has the constitutional mandate for public health is not informed about this initiative. We still wait until we are formally informed then we can take it from there.”
