A man aged 22 years killed his father (62) by slitting his throat and inflicting wounds on his arms.
The police said the incident happened at Oshuulula village in Endola constituency, Ogha on Saturday evening.
The unnamed man had just been released from the Oshakati police custody after his parents reported him for destroying property.
According to the police, the suspect burned down his own sleeping room some few months ago.
The police have recovered the murder weapon – a panga – and arrested the man.
“It is further alleged that the motive behind the crime may be revenge driven,” the police said.
Three man aged 25, 20 and 41 committed suicide over the weekend in different parts of the country.
At Walvis Bay, 25-year-old Haihambo Tomas Heita Ndatunga’s body was found hanging on a pole at Guano Island on Saturday morning.
Police said Ndatunga was seen alive on Friday evening.
Although he did not leave any suicide note, the police do not suspect any foul play.
A second suicide reported during the weekend is that of Paulus Shiningeni Mpinge (20) who was found hanging in his sleeping room at Onainghundudu village, Eenhana.
Mpinge could have killed himself on Saturday afternoon.
A man aged 41 also hanged himself in Takarania, Mariental. The unidentified man hanged himself on Sunday morning after sending an SMS to a friend.
In the SMS, the man is said to have told his friend that life is not easy and that he should look after his children.
Another death, this time natural, was reported in Onayena at Oniihwa village where Tomas Uugwanga (101) was found dead in his room.
Uugwanga is said to have been discharged from the hospital on 10 September 2021. The body was found around 19h30 on Saturday.
