The LPM dominated council in the south has gotten rid of the Keetmanshoop chief executive officer, Desmond Basson, according to information coming in.
It is not yet clear under what circumstances Basson has been shown the door as the mobile phone of the management committee chairperson could not be reached.
LPM’s Desmond Isaaks confirmed the development but referred all questions to the chairperson
The move comes in the wake of the Keetmanshoop Town Council having last year also opened disciplinary action against Basson, just after he had renewed his five-year term contract.
The council fell back on resolving to charge Basson of gross negligence, non-compliance with the Local Authorities Act and fiduciary as well as statutory duties and responsibilities.
According to a report by The Namibian, the council’s move came shortly after it’s then chairperson, Gaudentencia Kröhne, of Swapo, suggested during a meeting that the CEO be suspended on the grounds of a 17-count disciplinary charge sheet.
