I’M TRYING MY BEST TO HELP WITH OXYGEN- NAUDE

Lack of oxygen and the scant prospect of open treatment beds in Windhoek have been the latest developments of the capitol’s fight against Covid-19.
The Namibia Ranger Marshals Service, Sean Naude, says that his team has been responding to house calls for oxygen supply around the clock this past week.

“It is real people, we have been responding to patients at home with oxygen masks to help them. I have millionaires that can’t get a spot in the hospital.”

Naude recounts how the demand for oxygen has put a strain on his financial situation.

“I’m a small operator, who volunteers my services to the greater public. And this is true, people! I use the little money I have, and we set up oxygen units at peoples homes to bring them relief,“ Naude says.

On the ratio of successes versus losses, he adds that there have been unfortunate losses of life due to the lack of oxygen in the past week, but according to him, the successes have been more.

“We lost a few patients this past week, but our successes have been way more. We lost a well-known businessman and other prominent people this past week.”

Naude claims that on the part of the government, more has to be pumped into the facilities to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

“At the first lockdown last year, we had the extra facilities ready. This time around, when the emergency is here, we don’t have the Ramatex facility up to standard, the facility at Walvis Bay is also not up to standard.”

He also weighed in on the oxygen supply debate that more needs to be procured to help the fight against the pandemic.
