The Centers for Disease Control (CDC)has issued a warning to travelers against traveling to Namibia due to the escalating Covid numbers, placing the country under alert level number four.
The Hospitality Association of Namibia’s Chief Executive Officer, Gitta Paetzold, has called for more vigilance.
As the northern hemisphere opens up, the southern hemisphere is compelled to be more restrictive in terms of travel.
“It almost was to be expected because of the winter and it is almost as if the Covid-19 is seasonal. What it would now mean is that Namibia needs to be more vigilant,” she said.
The CDC has said on its website, “Avoid travel to Namibia. If you must travel to Namibia, make sure you are fully vaccinated before travel. Because of the current situation in Namibia, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants. Travelers should follow recommendations or requirements in Namibia, including wearing a mask and staying 6 feet apart from others.”
