4 CHILDREN AMONG THE WEEKEND DEAD

Four children aged between seven months and 16 years were among those who died in separate incidents during the weekend.

Esapeta Ndapwa Jesaya (seven months old) was found by his mother dead on Friday morning. 

Jesaya was from Onamutenya village, Elombe in Onayena.

His body was taken to Onandjokwe mortuary for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

Two-month-old Julian Junaid Gift Vries died in his sleep on Thursday last week. Vries was staying in Karasburg. His body was transported to Karasburg State Hospital. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Another inquest will be conducted for Rikondjera Madra Tjiposa, a 16-year-old boy killed by a grinder at his home on Thursday.

The grinder cut Tjiposa on the neck and caused him to bleed heavily. He died around 14h25 at Okorosave village in Opuwo.

Another 10-year-old boy, Nikodemus Kotokeni Nefungo, died after a donkey-drawn cart hit a gate pole and overturned. This happened on Friday at Oyovu village in Omuntele.

Of the four women raped during the weekend, the youngest is 10 years old, while the oldest is 62.

The 10-year-old was raped in Ondjokwe village in Onankali on Sunday afternoon. The suspect, aged 19, is the family’s domestic worker who took advantage of the parents’ absence from home.

At Omundaungilo in Omutwewondjaba village, two men aged between 21 and 24 dragged a girl (15) into the bushes, where one of them fingered the girl twice while the other one held her down.

Police arrested a man (19) for raping a girl (16) at the Okatumbakomasa location at Kamanjab on Saturday at around 05h03.

The man is said to have followed the girl whom he raped at her friend’s house.

Another man (42) is in police custody in connection with the rape case of a 61-year-old woman at Aranos on Friday at around 00h28 in the Nuwerus location.

A fire burned down 25 shacks in Tutaleni on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the fire that occurred in Guinea Fowl Street also burned down the main house. It is not yet clear how the fire started.

At Omatjete in Otjohorongo village, a man burned down his ex-employers Shack on Friday at about 16h00.

The 19-year-old is said to have caused damage valued at N$12 630 after the fire he caused destroyed three iron drums, a plastic drum, a rake, a double bed mattress, a wheelbarrow and two trees.

Police arrested the man, and is expected in the Omaruru Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
