The police in the Oshana Region have reported an increase in the number of motor vehicles theft, and theft out of vehicles. According to the police, the region has recorded 10 cases of vehicle theft and 38 cases of theft out of motor vehicles Nampol Inspector Thomas Aiyambo advised members of the public to put security measures in place to prevent such incidents from occurring. Aiyambo, further said motorists should install alarms in their vehicles. “Alternatively, they can remove anything (parts) from the vehicle which can prevent the engine not to start and it should be on secrete place’’, he said. Most affected places in the region, according to the police, are Oshakati East, Oshikango location, Evululuko location, Oneshila location, Okandjengedi location, Oshakati West, Uupindi location, Ongwediva, Omatando, New reception, NHE houses, Ondangwa, Uupopo location, and Ohangwena location. Inspector Aiyambo urged people not to leave valuable items inside their vehicles, such as money, cell phone, cameras, and video machines, laptops. “People should not carry huge amounts of money, always double-checking their car doors before leaving them in the parking lot, possible for car jamming’’, Aiyambo said.
