A group called Kap en Bou from Tsumeb took the law onto their own hands, by grabbing land illegally which led to chaos on Tuesday morning.
The Tsumeb police officials were called at the scene by the municipality to reinforcement and mitigate the situation after the municipality said the situation got violent.
Approached for comment by Eagle FM, the Tsumeb municipality spokesperson Stella Imarwa-Nangolo, indicated that the town council has warned the residents of the Kap en Bou group to refrain from illegal land grabbing, who were seen over the weekend with pangas, spades and Axes trying to clear the land which they intend to occupy, allegedly because the municipality delayed the land approval.
“The land being illegally taken, is in the transition to be transferred to council although all statutory process needs to be conducted such as the town planning, servicing aspects and environmental impact assessments,’’ Imarwa-Nangolo stated.
