The JSC has been slammed by the Affirmative Repositioning (AR) for not being transparent about the names of everyone that applied for the job of Prosecutor General, opting to publish only those that got short-listed.
They have criticized the candidature of lawyer Ruth Herunga for being a State House friend and called for the legal fraternity to condemn the whole process.
Job Amupanda summed it all up by stating “clowns are being imposed upon us” at a press conference last week.
Unionist Kavihuha Mahongora has also poured cold waters on the re-appearance of a long time PG, Martha Imalwa.
But Dausab, speaking to Eagle FM this week at the sidelines of the conference of magistrates, said the criticism has been uncalled for as there have been no glaring irregularities by the JSC.
“I must emphasize, as the minister of justice, that I am concerned about the casting of aspersions on a process that has not yet been completed. We must trust the institutions that we have in place. We must trust that the process that they have followed up to this point is legitimate and that they have done what they deemed to have been the correct thing to do,” she said.
Dausab was also asked whether she thought there have to be open interviews for the position, a point the AR has also been hammering on.
“I can not speak for the Judicial Service Commission but I do remember a statement that had come, I believe from the office of the judiciary that had indicated that there are reforms that are ongoing around how we will move forward. But remember when you are an institution, you cannot always respond to every issue that is being raised,” she said.
