
A police report indicated that the deceased infant was with two other toddlers, and all were from the same household. They were left at home with their 90-year-old grandmother while the mother of the went out.
The police report alleges that the three toddlers then sneaked out to go play at a shallow pond next to their house.
One of the children then fell into the water while playing and subsequently drowned.
According to the police regional commander Commissioner Titus Shikongo, a passerby was alerted to the incident when the other two kids who were throwing stones into the water told him that the other kid went into that water.
The deceased’s infant was then retrieved after a search by community members.
The next of kin have been informed.
The remains were taken to Okahao police mortuary for autopsy while investigations are continuing
