5 #BeFree Ambassadors Set To Attend One Young

World Summit In Manchester

A group of five Namibians was chosen as delegates to represent Namibia at the One Young World Summit taking place in Manchester next week, between 5 – 8 September 2022.

The five delegates were selected as they were recognised as young Namibians who have shown leadership in social, technological, cultural, or entrepreneurial initiatives. This is particularly in the fields of Covid-19, education, accessibility to SRH and SGBV services, mental health, substance abuse, and

youth development. The five delegates are Hamlet Luboni, Ellen Nanyeni, Hikuru Tjazapi, Tuyeimo Haidula, and Andreas

Marungu.

Representing the #BeFree Movement, they will have the opportunity to promote their initiatives and share them with a worldwide audience.

For young leaders, the Summit is a chance for the individuals responsible for shaping the future of our world, to come together to confront the biggest challenges facing humanity.

The Summit is a place to be inspired, share learnings, and connect.

The annual One Young World Summit brings together 2,000+ of the brightest young leaders from every country and sector, working to accelerate social impact both in-person and digitally. Delegates from 190+ countries are counselled by influential political, business, and humanitarian leaders such as Justin Trudeau, Paul Polman, and Meghan Markle, and many others to harness the knowledge and skills needed for being impactful change makers.

Delegates participate in four days of speeches, panels, networking, and workshops. They’ll have the opportunity to challenge world leaders, engage with, and be mentored by expert industry influencers and make connections.

2022 WORKSHOPS AND PLENERY CHALLENGES

Summit workshops provide Delegates with expert insights into the issues and topics they are most passionate about. Workshops offer practical skills, techniques, ideas, and processes that Delegates can implement in their own projects and initiatives for change.

The Plenary challenges for this year are:

• Conflict Prevention – How can we prevent conflicts?

• Gender Equality – How can we accelerate gender equality?

• Oceans – How can we safeguard and restore the world’s oceans?

• Ethical Leadership – How can we be and develop ethical leaders – more responsible

and effective than previous generations?

• Health – How can we ensure health equity for all?

The Plenary sessions include speeches by world leaders and Delegate Speakers whose work, lived experiences and critical insights address the Plenary Challenges at hand while

offering ways for Delegates to take effective action when tackling global crises. All curated content at the Summit is shaped by the five Plenary Challenges, and these are the driving force for all discussions around creating a better world.
