Some City of Windhoek residents are questioning what they say is a recent suspicious spike in their water bills.
A resident of Khomasdal said that she had gone from paying over N$2 000 for a household of six people to receiving a bill of over N$5 000 in May and for this month the family unit that reduced to four people, received a bill of N$9 000.
The woman who did not want to be named, but provided EagleFM with copies of her bills, said that she even had her home checked for underground leakage to try and explain the constant increase in the water bill.
“We registered to do our own meter reading and we always do it on time.”
City of Windhoek spokesperson Lydia Amutenya said that there can never be a blanket response to questionable water bills as all need to be investigated individually.
