Venaani says Swapo’s time is up

The official opposition leader McHenry Venaani charged that Swapo’s time was up and that his party will use the legislative’s strength to hold the government to account.

The party won 16 seats during 2019 Presidential and National Elections.

Address the nation Monday from Windhoek during the Real State of the Nation Address, Venaani said Swapo governs for Swapo members.

“Taking over government is our next target or a coalition government and we will make it happen,” Venaani said.

He added that over the years, they have seen how decisions that ought to have direct applicability to the Executive in form of motions being water down and collecting dust as the Executive continue to rape and undermine the function of the legislatures.

“The Namibian people have spoken unequivocally during the past election that it should no longer be business as usual.

“The youth, army, police, teachers, nurses, first-time voters all need to actively participate and make their voices heard and be part of the decision-making tables,” he said.

Venaani also said the fundamentals of Namibia’s political currency is not fixed, it will be devalued.

“The 2/3rd majority of SWAPO has been broken and the ground has shifted, and will still shift in November 2020,” he said
