Two court houses closed due to Covid-19

Deputy director of public relations at the Office of the Judiciary Ockert Janson told EagleFM that the Katima Mulilo Magistrates court, Magistrates courts in Windhoek at Mungunda street in, Katutura as well as the Traffic court at the Cnr of Sam Nujoma Drive and Simeon Shixungileni streets in town have been closed down with immediate effect for a period of 14 days, after two officials and an accused tested positive for Covid-19.
Jansen said that all trials and scheduled appearances are rescheduled.
He added that domestic violence cases can be filed, all bail matters will be heard for those arrested in 24 hours.
“People will still pay for their traffic fines in Katima Mulilo and Windhoek traffic court,” Jansen said.
He urged the Staff members to isolate themselves for now
He added that caseloads will be shifted to different courts.
