Former president Hifikepunye Pohamba’s son Hamukoto appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court in Katutura on allegations of assaulting his wife on Thursday.
The 41-year-old is also facing charges of malicious damage to property after he hurled a brick at the bakkie his wife Albertina Ndishishi was driving in the city centre.
The charges are read with the provisions of the Combating of the Domestic Violence Act.
Hamukoto allegedly grabbed the steering wheel while trying to stop the car and in the process, he also allegedly tried to throttle her.
All this happened in the presence of the couple’s two children who were in the car with their mother.
He was remanded in custody.
