Police Inspector-General Sebastian Ndeitunga has promoted Deputy Commissioner Elizabeth Sibolile to the rank of Commissioner and appointed her as the new Regional Commander of Ohangwena Region.
She takes over from Commissioner Simeon Shindinge who went on retirement on 31 May 2020.
Prior to her appointment, Commissioner Sibolile was heading the Performance Evaluation Division of the Force Policy Planning and Development Directorate at the Police National Head Quarters however also served in various capacities in the Namibian Police Force.
Commissioner Sibolile joined the Namibian Police Force on 10 July 1990.
The retired Commissioner Shindinge joined the Namibian Police Force on 9 May 1990 and served in various capacities as well as the Regional Commander for Omaheke, Omusati and Ohangwena Regions, respectively.
The first female regional commander in Namibia is Annemarie /Goagoses, who was promoted on 1 July in 2012 and assumed the duties of deputy commissioner as well as commander of Oshikoto Region.
/Goagoses is now the first female major general.
Inspector Johanna Ngondo was promoted to the rank of Commissioner and appointed as the Regional Commander for Okavango East Region, with effect from the 13 January 2014.
In 2015, Ndeitunga promoted Commissioner Rauha Amwele as the Oshana Regional commander after the retirement of Commissioner Ndahangwapo Kashihakumwa.
