Namibia’s Covid-19 cases now stand at 31, after an announcement of two more new cases made Monday by the health minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula.
Addressing the nation from the Covid-19 Conference Centre, Dr Shangula said the new cases involve a 27-year-old woman and a 50-year-old woman who are both Namibians.
Both women travelled from India via the OR International Airport on 24 May 2020, and then to Namibia by road where they were dropped off at the Nakop border post in South Africa on 25 May 2020. They were part of a group of nine.
“On the same day as pre-arranged, they were collected in two minibuses by Karasburg health district team and entered Namibia through Ariamsvlei border post,” Dr Shangula said.
He added that the group had been quarantined at Grunau Chalets in Grunau at Karasburg district since 25 May 2020, and were swabbed on the 6th June 2020 and results came out positive on the 7 June 2020.
Both women’s conditions, according to Dr Shangula, are satisfactory.
