MAN WHO WANTED TO BRIBE ACC OFFICER IN EXCHANGE FOR FISHROT BANK CARDS IN COURT

Jason Iyambo arrested in Katutura on Monday for attempting to bribe an ACC investigator has appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court.
Iyambo faces two counts – obstructing the course of justice and Contravening section 34 of the ACC act of 2003 for an inducement to do or to omit to do anything.
The court heard that Iyambo wanted the investigator to release four cards – 2 that belong to James Hatuikulipi and 2 for Pius Mwatelulo as well as a letter in the file with the ACC.
James Hatuikulip and Mwatelulo are among the six who are in prison for various charges among them fraud, tax evasion and money laundering.
The court also heard that Iyambo offered the investigator N$250 000.
Iyambo will appear in court again on 20 February 2020 together with the other six. Apart from James and Mwatelulo, the other four are Benhard Esau, Sacky Shanghala, Tamson Hatuikulipi and Ricardo Gustavo.
The state asked for 20 February, saying that Iyambo’s case is tight to the Fishrot6.
Magistrate Linus Samunzala agreed although he pointed out that the court would be congested with cases on the day.
