Swapo Party Youth League secretary and member of parliament Ephraim Nekongo has said that the concept of the independent candidate is meant to destroy the party.
Nekongo says that the party should terminate with immediate effect the membership of anyone who supports any independent candidates.
The SPYL secretary confirmed the statement on Monday saying that he does not have to be popular.
“I confirm then statement and those are the words,” Nekongo told Eagle FM.
In a statement being circulated, Nekongo says there are those who claim to be Swapo members, yet they connive with Independent candidate to cause harm and distraction.
“The decline in parliament seats is a serious act committed by those who decide otherwise contrary to the ideology of Swapo Party,” he says.
Nekongo says he would like to make a clarion call to all Swapo members to shun away from teams and unite to defend the party.
“Despite our own internal challenges, we MUST work in unison to solve them amicably,” he urges, adding that as cadres and patriotic Namibians, people MUST, by all means, denounce corruption and incompetency to ensure continuity in building a Namibia where all citizens enjoy the prosperity.
