Fishrot scandal accused, former minister of fisheries Bernhard Esau is now at the Windhoek Correctional Facility after spending one week in the hospital.
Khomas regional police commander commissioner Joseph Shikongo confirmed that Esau was given a clean bill of health on Sunday.
Although the police could not say where Esau was admitted, Eagle FM understands that he was at the Lady Pohamba Hospital and that he was being treated for high blood pressure.
Esau joins the other five – former justice minister Sacky Shanghala, former Investec managers James Hatuikulipi and Ricardo Gustavo, Esau’s son-in-law Tamson Hatuikulipi and Pius Mwatelulo.
The sextet was detained at Seeis Police Station since their arrest in November 2019 in connection with a N$150m fishing quotas scandal involving an Icelandic company Samherji.
