Forty-three (43) capital projects of 153 projects have been left abandoned and left incomplete in the space of three years. Works and Transport Minister John Mutorwa, reported this morning.
Mutorwa said this during a media briefing on the reports of abandoned and incomplete government capital projects.
A regional breakdown saw that Khomas had the highest number of abandoned projects with six.
//Kharas and the Kavango region each recorded five, while Otjozondjupa recorded four abandoned projects.
The Kunene region has one abandoned project while the only region without an abandoned project is the Omaheke region.
Mutorwa said that a report on all projects will be given to the works ministry’s ED to establish the way forward on the projects.
The Oshikoto, Ohangwena, Omusati and Zambezi regions all recorded three abandoned projects, while Oshana, Kavango West and Hardap all recorded two. He also said that while they ensure that the projects are completed, where an entity is found wanting, “The law must be allowed to follow and take its own course”.
Of the 153 projects, 56 are still ongoing from 2016 and 2019. The ministry reported that 54 were successfully completed.
