The Affirmative Repositioning Windhoek branch has applied with the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) to register as an organisation to participate in the November 2020 regional council elections.
The deputy chairperson Nathaniel Kalola told Eagle FM Wednesday that they had applied to the Electoral Commission of Namibia.
Kalola further said that they are not a political party but a movement.
“We have submitted an interim leadership with the ECN. We have just registered for Windhoek local authority. Other towns will also do the same thing. What we have done is that Windhoek becomes the umbrella of all the regions. We have collected signatures are for Windhoek,” Kalola said.
He explained that a political party requires its members to obtain membership cards but the AR is a movement for change.
According to Kalola, the names of the interim leadership they submitted to the ECN are that of the chairperson Bernadine Johannes, Kalola, Abednigo Shishiveni who is the head for Secretariat information and organising. There is also Teopolina Ashivudhi, the head for resources and accountability.
Kalola said they applied on 12 July and then the ECN confirmed receipt of the application.
Theo Mujoro, the ECN chief electoral officer said they were attending to the letter and would revert.
