Police in Windhoek are looking for a man whose girlfriend’s body was found with an axe stuck in the neck and had been burnt beyond recognition in a shack fire on Sunday morning.
According to police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi, the unidentified woman and her boyfriend who is on the run argued around 01h00 and then the shack burnt down around 04h00.
Shikwambi said the police have opened a case of murder.
The death of the unidentified woman comes a few days after the gruesome killing of two sisters in Eenhana last week by a man who later committed suicide.
Eagle FM understands that the 29-year-old man had two children with one of the sisters aged 23 and that they had been on separation for three years. A few days before he slit the sisters’ throats, the man had tried to reconcile with the mother of her children.
When he failed to win her back, Eagle FM further understands that he waylaid the sisters while on their way home and killed them.
In another incident at Gobabis, Steven Adams, 27, died in a shack fire around 03h00 in the Freedom Square section of Gobabis town.
The police said that Adams neighbours heard him screaming for help but when they rushed to rescue him, they found the door fastened with a chain that had a padlock from inside.
