The Windhoek mayor Muesse Kazapua led a delegation to the family of the slain woman in Katutura and donated mattresses and drinks.
Katrina Silas Kasita was allegedly killed by her live-in boyfriend with a pickaxe that was found stuck in her neck. Her body was then burnt in a shack on Sunday morning.
The boyfriend was arrested two days later and is in hospital under police guard.
Addresses the community that gathered at the scene where the shack was, Kazapua appealed to men to stop the killings.
Kazapua said that usually leaders come to people to look for votes but thos time, they decided to come and be with the family of the deceased and the community at large.
“We want to extend our heartfelt and deepest condolences on behalf of the City of Windhoek and my own behalf and the residents for the passing away of meme Katrina Silas Kasita.
Kazapua condemned the brutal killing of women, saying that men are the blame mostly.
“I don’t know until when this kind of social killing will continue going in our community. If you go back to our forefathers they have girlfriends but there was nothing like what we see happening today,” he said.
The mayor said it was not necessary to kill.
