State House denies motorcade was blocked

State House has dismissed reports that President Hage Geingob’s motorcade was blocked at Ondangwa on Saturday.

Some media reports said that Geingob was stuck in the traffic after Dr Itula

In a press statement Monday, the presidential press secretary Alfredo Hengari said that the media that reported about the blockade was misinforming the nation.

Hengari said the fact of the matter was that no demonstrators blocked the motorcade and that those who reported so intend to disinform.

“President Geingob conducted highly successful campaign rallies on Friday 15 November 2019 in Omuthiya, 16 November in Katima Mulilo and 17 November in Eenhana. At all times, the Presidential motorcade proceeded unhindered, without any disturbance, “Hengari said in the statement.

Eagle FM spoke to activist Dumbulukweni Nauyoma, who is campaigning for Dr Itula, on Sunday regarding the motorcade blockade and the violence that erupted at Ondangwa.

Nauyoma dismissed the rumour that Dr Itula’s supporters had blocked the motorcade. According to Nauyoma, the violence that ensured came after the motorcade had driven past.
