The Namibia Qualifications Authority chief executive officer Frans Gertze who shot his wife, Annita, six times on Saturday has appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate Court Monday.
Gertze is facing attempted murder, assault with the intention of causing gross bodily harm read with the Combating of the Gender-based Violence Act, and negligent handling of a firearm.
The case was postponed to 20 February 2020, while Gertze was remanded in prison. There was no formal bail application lodged.
Annita, who is out of danger, underwent an operation to remove the bullets from her body.
Gertze shot Annita with a 7.7mm rifle at their home and then rushed her to the hospital. Gertze, media reports said, had to rush back home to collect a medical card and was arrested when he returned to the hospital.
