A 26-year-old man, Johanness Kangango, was denied bail at the Aranos magistrates’ court after he was arrested for the rape of an 85-year-old woman on Saturday in Gochas.
The incident took place around 22h15 at the Gomxab-naus residential area, where the alleged rapist attacked the woman and forced himself on her.
A police case was later opened against Kangango who made his first appearance in court this week, only to be asked to return to court on the 10th of April for a formal bail application.
Magistrate Yvonne McCloud was the presiding officer while public prosecutor Waomba Morangi represented the state.
