A 75-year-old man who is believed to be mentally disabled is currently facing criminal charges after he allegedly raped a six-year-old girl at Omhokolo village last Saturday.
According to the police crime report the suspect is a relative of the victim although they do not live in the same home stead.
The police said that the incident was witnessed by a 12-year-old girl who alerted an aunt to call the police.
Although a case of rape was opened no arrest has been made yet.
In a separate rape incident at Leonardville’s Saamstaan location, a 19-year-old woman was raped by a 23-year-old man.
The police did not go into details as to where in the location the incident took place or whether the victim knew her attacker.
It however revealed that the attack was reported to the police by the victim’s mother.
In another similar case, the police in Swakopmund’s Mondesa opened a case against a 23-year-old man for allegedly raping a woman.
The police reported that the incident took place in the early hours on Saturday at a house on Rakotoka Street. The relationship between the victim and the suspect has not been explained, and it is only reported that the case is currently under investigations.
