The environment ministry says 15 people were arrested between 11 and 17 November, while 10 new cases were reported during the same period.
In a statement Monday, environment ministry spokesperson Romeo Muyunda said that two of the suspects were arrested for in connection with rhino poaching/trafficking cases (including cases of the conspiracy of rhino poaching). Four others were arrested in connection with elephant poaching and trafficking.
According to Muyunda, the police recovered two elephant tusks, six elephant tusk pieces, three pangolin skins, three oryxes, one buffalo, one duiker, two impalas and one warthog.
In addition, Muyunda said the police also recovered three firearms, 12 ammunition and one vehicle.
