Meatco said it was suspending all educational tours and visits by the public to all its abattoirs with immediate effect.
In a statement signed off by Meatco corporate communications, Rosa Hamukuaja-Thobias, the suspension was in response to the worldwide outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
“All Meatco Abattoir visits or tours are hereby suspended until 30 May 2020,” Hamukuaja-Thobias said.
She added: “The Meatco Abattoir plant processes meat products to niche markets and at this point, it is important to manage and ensure that the factory is not exposed to high risks situations.”
