TJF Investments CC took up the first spot from the shortlisted 10 start-ups in the south, thus getting N$50,000 seed capital.

The OM SEED initiative is in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Accelerator Lab.

They have been going around the country identifying unique and transforming upcoming enterprises and providing seed capital to top 3 entrepreneurs.

Taljaard Uaputuaka’s venture, TJF Investments CC, focuses on creating reusable sanitary pads which secured him the first-place position, accompanied by N$50,000 in support.

According to the Foundation, Uaputuaka’s dedication to sustainability and women’s health shines through his enthusiastic advocacy.

Uaputuaka explained that her business’ commitment lies in merging environmental awareness with economic advancement.

She said the seed capital will propel their goal of creating reusable sanitary pads.

“The funds awarded will play a crucial role in extending our impact and optimising our available resources,” Uaputuka stated.

Janine Ellen Englebrecht secured the second spot with Vicon Investments CC, a specialised tool repair and hire venture.

Her impactful contribution has earned her N$30,000 to advance her business.

The third position is claimed by Roger Cloete, whose brilliance shines in his gemstone jewellery haven, Hardap Gemstones, and Consulting.

Cloete’s creation garnered him N$20,000, to advance his ingenuity and artistic skills in jewellery manufacturing.

Old Mutual Namibia’s Group Marketing and Sustainability Executive, Mignon du Preez said the trio’s entrepreneurial brilliance symbolizes the indomitable spirit of the region.

“Their journey reflects the transformative potential of initiatives like OM SEED, igniting economic growth, innovation, and community upliftment.

“This stands as a testament to Namibia’s inexhaustible well of entrepreneurial talent. Witnessing the extraordinary journey of these individuals and the positive ripples they generate brings Old Mutual Namibia and the Old Mutual Namibia Foundation unparalleled joy,” Du Preez said.
