New Incinerators for Khomas Region

The Ministry of Health and Social Services, installed three new incinerators at Katutura Intermediate Hospital to serve public and private health facilities in disposing medical waste.

The current incinerator installed in 1990 is in the process of being replaced with three new ones. The new incinerators will be fully functional by end October 2015 with a life span of 15 years.

The new incinerators will burn medical wastes for all state and private clinics, health centres, hospitals and private medical practitioners in Khomas Region.

The Ministry has about 45 incinerators in the country with most of them having been replaced with new ones and others are yet to be replaced as funds are being made available.
