Can Namibia play the double?

by Selma Kaulinge

Last year, one of Namibia’s participants, Jossy Joss, in the reality TV show; Big Brother was voted out first.
Only Meryl, the 2010 participant, who almost brought the money home and some years before her, Stefan Ludik also had his hands on the money – almost.
This means Namibia can only dream of earning the US$300 000 if people whose characters resemble those of the likes of Max Hamata, Kazenambo Kazenambo, Lady May,  Slick the Dick and Lize Ehlers.
Interestingly, this year’s big twist to the Big Brother show is that entrants have to double-up to compete. This means that aspiring participants have to enter with a friend, boy/girlfriend, mother, father, uncle, cousin - basically anybody as long as that person is from the same country as the entrant.
There are now 16 participating countries after the inclusion of Liberia and Sierra Leone in addition to Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
We have had six Namibian contestants in the Big Brother House so far - Stefan, Lucille, Meryl, Eddie (Erastus), Rene and Jossy Joss.

If you have any of these character traits, collect entry forms from the nearest MultiChoice office anytime from the 5th of next month.
You can also enter by logging on to “http://www.mnetafrica.com/bigbrother” or www.mnetafrica.com/bigbrother and completing an entry form online. Otherwise, download an entry form from the website, complete and email it back to “mailto:bba@endemol.co.za” \t “_blank”bba@endemol.co.za.
Entries close on the 27th of next month.

The Kaunapawa personality
This is the woman who married a British millionaire while she was still married to someone else. As if that wasn’t enough, she still had a kamboroto on the side.  A contestant with her character would be in the house to win the USD300 000 and would stop at nothing to make that happen. This person will obviously include back-stabbing as a strategy and won’t care whose head she has to step on to succeed.

The Kazenambo Kazenambo personality
This one could go both ways. It could either be an epic fall or a total win. On the plus side, this person is honest, outspoken and one may believe he has the interests of others at heart. On the other hand, he is as dramatic as Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody; calm one minute and loud the very next and of course, what would Big Brother be without drama? A contestant with the honourable’s personality is not afraid of confrontation and will not be afraid to challenge not only the other contestants but even Biggie could be on the receiving end of a tongue-lashing if need be.

The Lady May personality
Well, someone like this is daring and constantly hovering on the border between ‘OMG! What is she thinking?’ and just expressing their true self. They are not fazed by people’s opinions and will continue being their crazy self, regardless. The Lady May personality is the type that divides people’s opinion of them. You will either love them or hate them. This person will probably be the most neutral and will find it hard to pick sides because they get along well with everybody. Even though they want to win the money, they will make sure to have fun while in the house.

The Slick the Dick personality
This person is cool, calm and collected but what makes them entertaining is their sense of humour. This character will take it one day at a time and being in the Big Brother House will seem like something they are doing to pass time. Africa will like this person because they will not be putting on an act in a bid to win the money.

The Max Hamata personality
Ok, let’s admit it . . . we all love to hate Max because he is not afraid of exposing anybody. At the beginning, most housemates may confide in him but they will quickly learn not to confide in him and this may be a negative. He will come in the house with a clear strategy on becoming USD300 000 richer. Also, he is controversial, which is an ingredient for drama; a vice always welcomed by Big Brother viewers. But this person’s most winner’s trait is that he loves to party, especially when Biggie goes viral on Friday nights.

The Lize Ehlers personality
She is outspoken, creative, stylish and retro. What makes this person stand out is their difference from everybody else. So originality is their best weapon. People might not be able to categorise them at the beginning but they will definitely keep looking forward to what they are going to do next. Her personality will keep other housemates on their feet and will ensure that the viewers are well entertained.
