A 28-year-old suspect appeared before Magistrate George N. Mbundu in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court last week on a charge of escaping from lawful custody.
Anton Phiri was initially charged along with Rudie Rentenbach (31) and Rodney Roger (27), with one count of attempted murder each.
The trio were arrested on 6 April 2014, and remanded at the Katutura police station’s holding cells, from which Phiri allegedly tried to escape.
Phiri and Rentenbach remain in custody, while Roger was released on bail of N$1000. The case was postponed to 29 June 2015. The trio earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempted murder.
