A school teacher at the Okathitu Primary School in Omusati Region, Thobias Ethindi is in hot water for canning a learner who ended up being hospitalised due to the traumatic injuries.
Ethindi has seen parents and fellow teacher’s trying to get him transferred from the school through several consultations with authorities.
The pupil who is currently admitted at the Oshakati Intermediate hospital with a swollen back, head and arms was according to reports beaten because he made noise in class.
Parents have expressed their frustrations to this reporter and they are demanding the educator to be permanently removed from the school.
The  school Principal could neither  confirm or deny the incident citing that by law he is not obliged to talk to the media over matters that happen at the school and has instead referred queries to the education ministry.
One parent who spoke to The Villager Martha Elliot also expressed her reservations over the teacher’s behavior..
“We can no longer take this barbaric behaviors of this teacher, our children go to school to learn but now they are afraid to go to school. As far as we know corporal punishment has since been abolished this teacher must go and beat his own children, the police and the Ministry of Education should do something about this man before he kills a child. He does not belong in a surrounding where he deals with children at all besides parents are supposed to be notified should it be found that their children are behaving badly at school. Now a person just receives a report that their child is driven to the hospital  because of a teacher’s beating when they should have been safely in school,”she said.
