There was a time when middle-class families could count on their hard work and fair play as the best way to stay afloat financially. Nevertheless, today, things have changed. Today the game is different and the rules are different.
Unfortunately, many are playing this game with outdated rules; those who learned in school classrooms or within the four walls of your home. Get it off your chest money is the core business for our survival, and surely no one was taught it through and through.
These antiquated rules are what lead many people to become needy and greedy. Some are working to manage this system and expect the government to help them. Others see themselves and take what they can, as fast as possible, no matter who takes ahead. For money I know people who can even sacrifice themselves, I know people who can kill their fathers or mothers. I have even heard rumours of a certain tribe, which clean man, kill them to get money. That mentality of need and greed has created a disparity between the haves and the have-nots, which continues to increase at an alarming amount.
Did the system change now?
Most middle-class jobs that emerged during the recession have been replaced by low-income jobs during this time of recovery. In other words, those who lost their jobs and choose to play with outdated rules are working for much lower wages than they had previously. By continuing to be have your fate being determined by someone else, you will or have chosen to work harder and for longer hours in the hope of returning to the same level as before. This most people are doing so in anticipating of a system change. But did the system change, yes it has but for the worst for workers and better for self-employed and even better for business owners.
This definitely does not seem a good recovery; but that does not mean that there is a better way to do it. What if we changed the rules to which it has played so far? What if it abandons the idea that a job is the best way to get ahead financially? What if you saw investment and entrepreneurship as the best way to take control of your financial future? What would happen then?
The middle class is in intensive care. Most of you will be in intensive care. That is, employees who do not earn enough to survive. As you can see, if you want to be financially successful, you need to start playing with the rules. In addition, the only way to move to that side of the quadrant is to invest in your financial education. The choice is yours - continue to believe that this fake “recovery” touch to your door, or take charge of your life and achieve your financial well-being realized.
As an entrepreneur you might enjoy the following;
Don’t Be Afraid to Pivot
Some two guys called Danielle McDowell and Janell Shaffer founded My Best Friend’s Hair, which was akin to Match.com for hairstylists and their clients. Great idea! Nevertheless, in starting their business, they realized that there was more of a demand for beauty products. Therefore, they decided to pivot and created Loxa Beauty, a one-of-a-kind e-commerce site that provides commission to a local salon or stylist with every customer purchase made online. Loxa was such a huge success that it was acquired by industry giant Sally Beauty.
Changing your business model does not mean you failed. It means you learned, listened, and let the market lead you. Great companies are always pivoting, you just don’t hear about it. So don’t be afraid to do it, too. It might just be your ticket to a multimillion-dollar acquisition like it was for us.
It all goes back to cupcakes, ladies and gentlemen. Don’t get stuck in your ways. If there’s a better way to do something, then do it!
Work Smarter, Not Harder
You’ve heard the phrase. However, how do you actually make it happen? By getting it out of your head.
All the daily tasks rolling around in your mind can drive you crazy if you’re not careful. Clear your brain by taking the time to write down your thoughts and prioritize your day. Being able to see your thoughts organised gives you a feeling of control. And it makes you excited to keep working on the boundless possibilities that are out there--without becoming overwhelmed.
Keep Your Work and Home in Balance
Pssst. Taking a break to do something you love will actually help you be better at your job. The whole work/life balance is kind of a misnomer because when you start something with your own time and money and are super passionate about it, it begins to become all-consuming. You balances life and work by taking time every day to get outside, whether it’s drinking, hiking, or simply going on a walk with your wife. And it helps the business! Best ideas come when you are in a free environment. Isaac Newton discovered law of motion when he was in an acquit place. There’s something magical about nature, use that to your advantage.If you work in a way that doesn’t fulfill you, your life will pass you by. Don’t let that happen. Always remember, businesses (like cupcakes) are meant to be enjoyed.
