Freedom of political association Yes! freak show political parties, Ney! because a distressed nation does not have time for mediocre leadership. We call these political parties unpatriotic because in a normal setup, birthing a political party should come from the desire to build a bigger and better country. This means that you cannot start  political parties then play dead until elections when u suddenly start representing the rights and interests of a certain population of in order to win a seat in parliament.
Namibia currently has 15 political parties registered with the Electoral Commission of Namibia, and half of those are unheard of.
These are the political parties that have not yet realised the advantages of social media because they do not use these platforms to voice their ideologies. They have failed to come out during Namibia’s most crucial times to speak out especially against the brutal killing of women by their lovers.
You know these political parties are offhand because most of them do not even have websites. You have no way of knowing what their manifestos say or what interests they are representing because their business is not the outreach to the nation but to stretch a hand to parliament.
They have also not been able to show an interest in other social issues such as the drought, HIV/AIDS, baby dumping and the rising cost of living. So one would ask themselves if these parties really have the interests of the Namibia people at heart.
If you are really here to represent the wellbeing of other Namibians why can you quit being in hibernation and start creating solutions for the problems we are facing now. Are you really a patriot? Are you only interested in the issues that touch your immediate community or your tribe? You have no interest in all four corners of the country, then why are you be campaigning for each and every Namibia’s vote for November?
You were quiet during death of miners, those that died on site because negligence as well as the retired miners who are reported to be dying from cancer.
The Communist Party of Namibia which got 1 005 votes in the last elections, the Democratic Party of Namibia which finished 11th in the last elections, the Monitor Action Group which did not bother to run a presidential candidate in the last elections, the United People’s Movement representing the interest of the Rehoboth natives are amongst some of these minor *mediocre* parties that only show interest in things during the final months leading to elections. Where have you been? Why are we only hearing about what you suddenly want to do for us now? Where were you three years ago when I needed your support in protesting the rise of food prices?
It is sad because these political parties do not realise the power of small political parties and the possibility of tipping the balance of power. It has been proven in history that smaller political parties who show enough interest can end up with a majority vote despite the fact that they were not the first choice.
Moving away from culture of blaming and shaming and instead moving towards shaping the mind-set of a nation in their favour. Smaller parties everywhere have learnt to become ambulance surfers, as soon as a nation is hit with a crisis they would be the first to speak on it, the first to suggest solutions, the first to say that they are willing to collaborate with other parties in order to come up with solutions it is called strategic collective action. It is not the case in Namibia. Parties here represent the interest of their own people and it a problem falls far from their door they would not show interest.
Where is your loyalty to your country? If you do not show any interest in my problems then you are not getting my vote end of this year. We remember those who were there for us during the our darkest hour.
