The issue of immigration in Britain part 2

So Africans would have stayed in their home countries had their resources, including human resources,  not been shipped to Britain. It was difficult, deliberately made difficult to maintain a living in their own countries.
All these historical backgrounds can easily be manipulated by people who have been taught that Britain is a homogeneous  white country, which to anyone who has even read five pages of history would know that is absolutely nonsense.
The Roman legions that invaded Britain 2000 years ago had multicultural backgrounds,  if you know a bit of history of Phoenicians you’ll know that argument is utter nonsense.
The fact that Queen Elizabeth l  in 1596  issued an “open letter” to the Lord Mayor of London, complaining about how many blacks were in the country, shows that there was already a significant number of black people in Britain.
In her letter, she wrote that “there are of late divers black- moores brought into this realme, of which kinde of people there are already here to manie,” and ordering that they be deported from the country. One week later, she reiterated her “good pleasure to have those kinde of people sent out of the lande.” There was a large number of black people in Britain in 1596 for it to be  an immigration problem today.
Fast forward to 1731 if you like, where the Lord Mayor of London again issued a proclamation preventing black people from learning a trade or skill, shows that the problem isn’t new. Well many working class white people don’t know this because the information is deliberately hidden from them  by those who don’t want them to see what the real problem is, but rather encourage them to blame it on their black or Asian neighbour.
They are told that their social security problems is a result of all these brown and black people in their country whom they have got no idea why they are connected to.
They use the issue of immigration and social security by getting people to buy into the idea that these ‘foreigners’ are the problem. This is their way of distracting everyday working class people from the real problems of oppression and classism.
This is why you see those ignorant and racist white groups like EDL (English Defence League)in London chanting “ immigrants go home”. As a young scholar at black supplementary school in the Diaspora,  I always understood it. That as much as I don’t excuse this ugly behaviour by these predominantly ignorant white working class groups who voice racism in a more visible way, I don’t lose sight of the bigger picture.
Some members of these groups are too ignorant to see that they are being manipulated, some are willing tools for rich white people in power who fail to see that they have more in common with their black or Asian neighbour than anyone at 10 Downing Street or Buckingham Palace.
