Your words determine your future
Greetings and peaceful well wishes to you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. As Christmas draws nearer, let’s focus on the words that come from our mouths this festive season.
The Bible says in Psalms 19:14, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Jehovah, my rock and my redeemer.”
Christmas is a time for family reunion but sadly, we ignorantly speak words of death ever so often and this causes us destruction without our realising it.
The best of you reading this like to say stuff like, “I will drink myself to death”; “I will party till I drop”; “I can’t wait for the holidays to come. I’ll sleep to never wake up again”, etc.
These statements speak destruction and death over our precious lives. Nobody wants or expects bad news from family members during the festive season, because it would dampen and sadden the period. So we have to ensure we choose our words very carefully.
Proverbs 18:21 says; “Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
The amazing thing about this powerful text, whether we like it or not is, power lies on our tongues, not in our weapons. We do not engage in activities without our thought patterns. Words are like split water; once they pour out of our mouths, we can never take them back.
If you listened to the average person talk, you would notice that the first words that come out of their mouths are negative; full of complains, moaning and pessimism. Brothers and sisters, we need to learn to speak goodness in our lives.
As such, we need to talk to God more and ask for His help in ensuring the words we use are acceptable in His sight.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to you by faith and submit myself and my mouth to you today. Please help me think before I speak. Help me to count my words. Help me to always speak productive and optimistic words about myself and others. Help me today to honor and worship You so that my words may be acceptable in Your precious sight, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Dear readers, kindly start to adore God and use words that worship Him so that you can be touched by the power of the Holy Spirit.
