Hartman Toromba was the toast of the weekend, as he marshalled a ten men African Stars defence to a 2-1 win over Civics on Friday night at the Sam Nujoma stadium.
The former Brave Warriors hardman was instrumental in the heart of Stars defence which missed regulars, skipper Pat Neville-Uanavi, goalie Max Mbaeva, midfielders Levis Swartbooi, Riaan Cloete and Jamunovandu Ngatjizeko.
Stars had opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Joslin Kamatuka before Quinton Kuruseb replied 9 minutes later.
Partnering Chris Katjuukua, Toromba stood out even before another defender Freedom Puriza was given his marching orders five minutes from time.
Fortunately, Elvis Tjivasera’s 41st goal had made the difference in an even match.
The win put Stars on 10 points, six behind log leaders Tigers who drew 0-0 against Orlando Pirates on Saturday night.
