The secretary of the Swapo Party Elders’ Council Colonel Fredrick Matongo has died, close relatives have confirmed.Matongo who has been with the ruling Swapo party since 1964, took over from Kanana Hishoono last year and has been deputized by Dr Nestor Mkwaita Shanyengana, who is President Hifikepunye Pohamba’s special advisor on media.Shanyengana announced the passing away of the revolutionary stalwart at Rhino Park hospital in Windhoek today.“We are still running around trying to get all the information and arrangements in place,” he said.
