Although there seems to be much interest in the cash in transit tender from established and well-run security companies, the provision of manned security services is predominantly contested by new and smaller companies.
The NHE tender comes at a time when the state-owned housing development and distribution parastatal has been on a charged advance to build medium to low cost housing for the different regions in the country to curb the ever growing housing deficit.
The most affected areas in terms of housing shortage have been Windhoek and the coastal towns where high prices have squeezed the poor from having a roof above their heads because of a continued dominance by private players in the development of land.
