The MTC premiership will host its season-ending awards ceremony on Friday at the Safari Hotel in Windhoek.

Mighty Gunners striker Harold Ochurub is set to receive the Top Goal scorer award after his 13 goals during the league campaign, but his club was relegated to the Northern Stream First Division. 

Ochurub becomes the second player to have finished the league top goal scorer for a relegated side after Richard Kavendji of Hotspurs, was relegated with his club despite finishing joint top goal scorer with Black Africa’s Jerome Louis during the 2011/12 season.

Another award on the night will be the prestigious Chairman’s Award, which is given to an individual who have shown great courage and motivation to advance the Namibia Premier League and solely based on the discretion of the NPL chairman, Johnny Doeseb.

African Stars veteran midfielder Riaan Cloete, is also in the running for the Players of the Season and the Players’ Player of the Season awards and so is Black Africa's electric winger Willy Stephanus.

In a move to bring 'the people's game' closer to the public, there are 300 tickets available for sale to the public at only N$100 a ticket.

These are available for sale at the NFA's Soccer House or at Computicket and any Shoprite or Checkers outlet.

The award nominees are: 

Player of the Season: Harold Ochurub - Mighty Gunners, Willy Stephanus - Black Africa and Riaan Cloete - African Stars

Players' Player of the Season: Harold Ochurub - Mighty Gunners, Willy Stephanus - Black Africa and Riaan Cloete - African Stars

Coach of the season: Ali Akan - African Stars, Brian Isaacs - Black Africa, Woody Jacobs - Tura Magic and John Sikerete - Rundu Chiefs.

Referee of the season: Jonas Shongedi- Oshana, Danki Shinana- Otjozondjupa and Reinhold Shikongo-Khomas.

Assistant referee of the season: Mathew Kanyanga – Khomas, Deon Gamab – Erongo and John Maseko – Kavango.
