A 19-year-old boy from Katutura who was arrested for an alleged rape last year told the Katutura Magistrate Court last week that the girl had lied to him about her age.
Daniel Namwandi had a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old girl whom he says made him believe she was older than him. The two hooked up in Goreangab Dam in October last year and less than a month later, he was arrested and charged with rape.
When he appeared in court earlier this year, he pleaded not guilty saying; “I am not guilty, the complainant lied to me that she was 20 years old.” He is currently out on a N$1000 bail on condition that he does not interfere with police investigations or contact the complainant in any way.
He will be returning to court on 19th of this month where he will be conducting his own defence.
