Unam fees up by 6%

 

The University of Namibia has announced that it will be increasing its tuition fees by 6% for the year 2019. 

 

These changes were approved by the university’s council which sat on Tuesday.

The minimum payable deposit on all tuition fees per faculty will still be communicated to the students, however, they have been informed that the registration fee for 2019 will be N$1 575.

 

Hostel fees at the main campus, Neudam, Ogongo, SANUMARC will now be N$12 860 for Namibian and SADC students while non-SADC students will pay N$21,360 including breakfast.

 

Students looking to be based at the Hifikepunye Pohamba, Khomasdal, Katima,  Rundu or Southern campuses will pay N$9 400 if they are locals or from the SADC region, while all the other students will have to pay N$14,440 to be accommodated including breakfast.

 

Hostel fees for the Jose Eduardo Dos Santos campus will be at N$15 830 for Namibian and SADC students while non-SADC students will be looking to be accommodated for N$27 110.

 

The health sciences northern campus will be taking in local and SADC students for N$9 000 while non-SADC students will be accommodated for N$18 000.

 

The Windhoek Health Sciences campus will be hosting students in its hostel at N$16 010 for Namibian and SADC students while non-SADC students will be lodging at N$32 020.

All the hostel fees are payable upfront each semester, the institutions said.

Furthermore, the university will implement a once-off payment of 5% of basic salary over seven months to staff inside the bargaining unit.

While a once-off amount equivalent to only 3% of basic salary over six months will be granted to staff outside the bargaining unit.

 

This will be implemented on 15 December 2018.
